Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Catalyst Medical Scribe Management over another medical scribe company?
We offer the kind of personal attention only possible when you're working with a local company. We are here to serve southwest Louisiana. We know this culture. We know this patient population. And we will do everything in our power to make sure we exceed your expectations.
How can I speak to someone about getting a scribe?
Easy. Just e-mail info@catalystmsm.com or visit our Contact page. We will set up a time to call when it's most convenient for you.
Are the medical scribes your employees?
Yes.
Who handles payroll and overtime?
We do.
Who does the scheduling?
We do. We ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws.
Who is responsible for insurance?
We are.
Can I increase my amount of medical scribe coverage?
Of course! We're excited to grow with you. 1-2 months notice may be required depending on the request.
How long does it take to completely staff my medical scribe program?
It depends on the target number of scribes initially agreed on. No one wants the training or orientation process to be rushed, but we move as expeditiously as possible.
How does the increase of shift coverage work when a scribe program is implemented?
We begin with your busiest shifts and choose which shifts come next based on the priority as determined by you (for individual clients) or the medical director or administrator (for groups).
How are scribes trained?
Each scribe goes through 80+ hours of training which includes online courses, in-class lectures, clinical training, and exams. All exams must be passed with a 90% or higher. Scribes are educated in SOAP note methodology, medical terminology, patient experience practices, and anatomy, as well as the culture of clinical medicine. We can also design custom courses at the request of the client for education needs specific to their practice. These can be developed and implemented at any time.
Can scribes enter orders?
No. Medical scribes are not permitted to enter CPOE orders to be executed by licensed staff.
What delays could occur during the implementation of a scribe program?
Recruitment delays could occur. We refuse to hire sub-par staff for the sake of meeting a deadline. This is why we partner with your practice to establish reasonable hiring timelines and gradually increase shift coverage. Delays are also possible if administrative approval is still pending or if HR or IT issues arise. We work closely with our clients to make the implementation process as smooth as possible.
